After three years of modeling
in Europe and New York, Tracy Lutz settled in Philadelphia
to help open a local clothing boutique. In 1997 she got a job running
production and managing the clothing company RetroActive. It
was here that she met Regina Mandell who was splitting
her time between the clothing company, a job assembling jewelry, and designing
and sewing her own line of hats, scarves and bags. Through RetroActive,
they became good friends and continued to work in the fashion business
together and separately for the next four years ending in design positions
at Sailor Jerry Ltd., a tattoo based line focusing on men and
women’s clothing, housewares and accessories.
Niko Enterprises, Inc. came together in August 2001 when Tracy and Regina had enough of the corporate powers that be breathing down their necks and quit their day jobs. They spent the first few months researching and designing for their Spring 2002 women’s line. In February 2002 they debuted the line at the MAGIC show in Las Vegas. Their first line was very well received and grabbed a lot of attention both locally and nationally. The Fall 2002 line followed shortly thereafter promising to be even better than the first.
Niko aims to be a 21st century, cutting edge, forward thinking clothing company. The aim of the company is to create unique, affordable and stylish clothing and accessories to sell wholesale to comparable businesses and individual customers around the world. Tracy and Regina believe in having a positive outlook, hard work, and having fun, because you know, A GIRL MUST LIVE!!!
